Hotel Mishap
On Wednesday of last week, we all loaded up in the car bright and early in
the morning and headed to Birmingham with Brian. He had a boring business
meeting and me and the kids had a (what one would think) a fun day planned at
the zoo. We had packed a picnic lunch and we got to the zoo about
9:30. We enjoyed our time there, seeing all different types of animals,
petting some, and then riding the train. The fun stopped immediately as we
were loaded up in the car. That's when Logan decided he needed to teetee
in his pants. Lovely. So, I changed his clothes, breaking all
indecent exposure laws, and loaded him up in the car so we can go check in to
our hotel. After picking up Brian from his meeting, we ended up having a
wonderful meal at Logan's Roadhouse and then we settled back into the hotel for
the night. We "thought" since the kids literally walked the entire zoo,
that they would be exhausted. Wrong. They played and played until
about 8:00 and then we tucked them into their beds. After an hour of
trying to get them to sleep, they finally calmed down. Well, Logan
apparently didn't sleep that well because he was spinning like a helicopter all
night long. So much, in fact, that he fell right out of the bed, hit his
adorable face on the night stand, leaving this "lovely" mark on his face.
Of course, my mother's instinct picked up as he was mid-air and I jumped over
Brian to get to him to make sure he was okay. The rest of the night, Logan
kept lifting his face and gently rubbing his face. I could tell it was
bruised and every time I woke the rest of the night I would think "oh my, what if
he needs surgery on his face from breaking his cheekbone!" I was soo
worried that he had broken a bone. Thank the Lord that once morning came,
I was able to tell that he did not hit his cheekbone. This boy has got to
have a bunch of guardian angels watching over him because with as many falls as
he has taken, we've never had a broken bone.
The rest of the weekend, was about as adventurous as the night spent in the
hotel. The children acted horribly the next morning. (probably
exhausted from the looonnng night) and I was about in tears most of the
morning. Also, I am pretty sure that I gained a stress fracture in my
right foot from walking all day, pushing 60 lbs in a double stroller and then
jogging that night on the treadmill at the hotel.
We are glad to be back home and back into a routine. We are looking
forward to a fun week of WEE School, pumpkin patch field trip with friends, and
school pictures to be taken on Wednesday!
I hope everyone has a great week!
