Day 2 of San Antonio Vacation
Yesterday was spent at the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch. If you ever get
a chance to go to a drive thru safari, do it!! I mean, don't hesitate.
Don't wonder if it's a waste of money. Just do it! It was such a fun
expierence and well worth the money (that really wasn't that expensive).
Once again, we had packed a picnic lunch and headed out around 9am. We got
to the ranch around 10:00 and we stayed until after lunch. We were given 1
bag of food and bought 3 more bags (1.00 a piece) and was told we could drive
thru as many times as we wanted.
The animals were free roaming and literally came up to the car. Just like
this little guy. He wanted a snack and he looked like he meant
business. Sooo, we gave him a snack and moved on.
Brian told the kids to not make a sound, throw food out or anything at this
big guy. We didn't want him giving us the same look as the "smaller"
horned guy above...
I pulled a Britney and rode around with Ethan in the front seat, in my
lap. He really loved being able to look out the window and see all the
animals walking up to the car or grazing by the side of the road. If we
have discovered anything from this vacation, it has been that Ethan is our most
passionate animal lover. He is so much fun to watch while interacting with
these animals.
Oh, and he wasn't being shy in the picture. It was unseasonably cold
yesterday (in the 50's) and VERY windy!!
Now, these guys were my favorite! They knew the drill. Car drives
up. Walk up to car. Get a treat. So they did it. You see that
big guy up front? yeah, he took a tour of the inside of the car.
ha! So neat that we had a Zebra stick his head in my window! Brian
freaked out, Ethan (who was in my lap) giggled and reached out to the
fella. I will admit, I was a little concerned because I just read a sign
that said "watch out! We bite!" as we were entering the Zebra area.
He didn't bite us and I am sad that I didn't get a picture of his head in our
car.
Ethan did drive us around for a little while. Brian wanted to feed the
animals too, you know...
Brian told the kids to not call the Llamas over either because they spit.
I told him that I didn't think they were going to spit on us so he threw them
some food. They really weren't even interested in us.
And this ostrich. He (or she) was a baby and very interested in what we
had. He walked up to us and got his little treat. Poor thing, is so
ugly he's cute!
After we finished with the drive thru, we went to the petting zoo and played
with all the goats. To sum it up we saw kids feeding kids. Kids
chasing kids. Kids brushing kids. Kids petting kids.
